In a must win tie Cuckfield won the toss down at Horntye Park and elected to bowl on the basis that bowling a team out would be very tough, so chasing offered the greater chance of a win. Cuckfield struck into the batsmen right away with a tough chance going begging, however, it was not long until the first breakthrough was made by Rod Candfield (1-46). Some lavish strokeplay combined with some poor strokeplay and wayward bowling made for some fairly inconsistent cricket and regular fall of wickets. Ajmal, as he has done all season bamboozled the Priory batsmen and was the destroyer in chief (4-47) as were dismissed for 203.

Cuckfield lost an early wicket but put this set-back behind them as Chris Mole and Oates sured up the innings. Oates (13) was then caught in two minds and offered a catch to point, Piolet added a few more before being dismissed as did Gardner (23). All the while Chris Mole was guiding his team to their target. He was joined by brother Tom for the fourth wicket but fell shortly after for a disciplined 81. With 45 runs needed off the final 9 overs Cuckfield were in control, until Tom Mole (23) missed a straight one. What followed can only be described as an inept batting display and a procession of three LBWs in one over left Cuckfield 9 down needing 11 runs off three overs. It wasn't to be as Ajmal was caught on the boundary going for glory. Cuckfield had lost four wickets for just three runs and lost the match by 7 runs in the penultimate over.  

Cuckfield are 4th in the League Table and cannot drop a place, but could still finish in the top three if results go their way in the final league matches on Saturday.
