David Fitt Reports on CRICKETFORCE (31/3/07)

Thanks to everyone who helped make CRICKETFORCE such a great success on Saturday 31^st March. We were certainly lucky with the weather, and that enabled us to make real progress with:

• Lifting and re-laying the 60 metre pathway from the car park to the pavilion

• Repairing and replacing the timber fence along the road

• Treating the timber areas of the pavilion, score-box, and shed

• Cleaning and painting the sight screens

• Cleaning the surfaces of our nets and artificial wickets

• Giving the pavilion a real spring-clean!

Sue and Elaine kept us all well supplied with soup, rolls, tea and coffee, and altogether some 80 club members, family members and staff from Sussex County Cricket Club rolled up their sleeves to help. And I mean help! It was hard work and I was really impressed how people didn’t hold back. And it wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work behind the scenes from Nigel Reid who master-minded the work, and Belinda Campopiano who planned the publicity, liaised with the County, and kept us on our toes! The ground and facilities now look really impressive – let’s look forward to a great season!
