1/8/04 - European Championship Yet again our very own Chris Mole hits the headlines after playing for the winning ECB XI in last weeks European Championship. For those that don't already know, the Red Lions will be at the event. The lions are a newly established Touring cricket team from Zimbabwe, comprising Zimbabwean International and First Class Cricketers. The Red Lions were formed out of a desire to promote the great game of cricket by playing matches against worthy opposition in an atmosphere of fun and frivolity. They aim to play friendly matches as a means to raise funds for two Trusts, The Cricketers Trust and The Zimbabwe Pensioners Trust. So if you're not already playing, come along and support what promises to be a great day.

Chris Mole vs Mathew Hoggard Most of you will know by now that our very own Chris Mole also moonlights for Devon CCC. This week they played Yorkshire in the C&G and Chris certainly made his mark. Much to the delight of the West Country crowd, he attacked the bowling of none less than Mathew Hoggard, fresh from the New Zealand Test, and hit him to all parts of the ground. Such was his impact he was even mentioned in the Telegraph: "The big hitting was not over. Devon opener Chris Mole will be able to tell people for years about the day he hit Matthew Hoggard all over the shop, while making a robust 40." (Daily Telegraph, 27th May 2004)
